Dance Classes
At Creative Edge Dance Studio, children learn dance in small classes with Montauk’s best choreographer and dance instructor, Laura Sisco. With new spacious new studio spaces in Montauk and Amagansett, students can take beginner, intermediate, or advanced group dance classes featuring styles such as ballet, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, and tap at affordable rates. This popular kid's after-school program is available for dancers age Preschool to 12th Grade, and is a great way for kids to stay active and healthy while getting a positive education.Class placement is based on student age, ability, and maturity. We pride ourselves on being a family oriented dance studio and go out of the way to find clean age-appropriate music.
DANCE WITH ME! 18 - 24 months
This 30-minute class is designed as movement exploration for children ages 18-26 months to complete with their parent/caregiver. The use of props, mats, and sing-along songs allows each adult to help their child develop motor and coordination skills in a fun, structured environment. This class is a perfect opportunity for babies to get in on the dance fun before they are old enough to join class on their own for more dance instruction.
PRESCHOOL DANCE
This popular combination class is designed for students to express their individuality through the art of dance. Preschool dance class introduces young students to ballet and tap skills through imagination activities, movement games and singing.
PRE-K DANCE
Dancers independently enter the 45 minute class confident, creative and imaginative. With better control over their movements and a growing understanding of concepts, we begin to teach dancers fundamental dance techniques. These movements combined with a lot of imagination will help dancers develop their growing dance vocabulary.
BALLET/LYRICAL
Foundations of ballet alignment, basic positions, carriage of the arms, and class etiquette are introduced. Dancers learn about articulation of the feet and ankles, rotation of the hips (or “turn out”), skips, and jumps. As they progress, students explore challenging barre exercises, turns, leaps, slow balances (adagio exercises), and complex combinations.
HIP HOP
Hip Hop is a popular class concept that infuses the funky style of hip hop with the technical side of jazz. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations and flexibility. This class will encourage students to dance outside of the box and bring their own personality to each movement.
TAP
Students begin with an introduction to basic tap steps, sounds, and techniques before exploring rhythms through call and response, and repetition. As they progress, dancers learn challenging technical footwork and rhythmic sophistication in choreography and improvisation.
BROADWAY BOUND
Our 45 minute Broadway Bound class is designed to develop comprehensive musical theatre skills including theatre dance, partnering, acting, character development and chorus singing.
